The "Shaman" story arc in Legends of the Dark Knight briefly begins with Bruce Wayne still traveling the Earth, with his subsequent return to Gotham City coinciding with the story seen in Batman: Year One. ![]() RELATED: Nightwing Just Proved Why Batman's Old Tricks Don't Always Work For this reason, the book worked well as a gritty companion to Batman's sprawling mythology, freeing it from the shackles of increasingly complicated continuity attached to the character's mythos. The same went for ties to other DC heroes and properties. The book thus wasn't involved with the intermingling storylines of the main titles or their present day events, and it took a fair amount of time before the story arcs so much as mentioned later characters such as Dick Grayson/Robin. ![]() This meant that the character was fairly alone, having only Alfred Pennyworth, Commissioner Gordon and medical clinician Leslie Thompkins as consistent supporting cast members.
